Traditional blockchain transactions are fully transparent, meaning wallet addresses, balances, and transaction histories can often be viewed and tracked publicly. Private Mode helps reduce this exposure by enabling users to shield and unshield assets through privacy-preserving mechanisms powered by Railgun.

When using Private Mode:

• Your transaction activity becomes significantly more difficult to trace publicly.

• Shielded assets can be transferred with enhanced privacy protection.

• Users can unshield assets to a brand-new wallet address, helping separate on-chain activity from previously exposed wallet histories.

In practice, this means that when assets are shielded and later unshielded to a fresh address, it becomes extremely difficult for external observers to associate the new address with your previous wallet activity or real-world identity.
